After a very long afternoon at Leicester Jordy Loftus smoothly moved through the semi-final stage of the British Under-21 Championship, securing second place with 14 points behind the Scunthorpe sensation Ryan Ingram.

Jordy actually gated on Ryan in heat 15 but could not stop him going to the front off the inside of the second bend. Jordy won all his other races pretty comfortably, gating well and riding smoothly.

The length of the meeting was not due to on-track incidents, but there were interminable grading breaks as they tried to keep the dust down. This they did manage until the water truck broke down, resulting in some very dusty heats towards the end.

West Lothian Wildcat Lee Harrison had a good afternoon scoring 5 points which put him in 11th place.

Jordy was off to a good start with a comfortable win in heat 1, and although he wasn't so well away in heat 7 he rounded the field, including Max Perry, on the second bend.

Third time out was heat 11, a relatively easy heat, though he had to win that one twice due to a stoppage. Heat 15 was a second place behind Ingram, then he had to ride well in his final outing in heat 19 when facing two of the real surprise packets of the day, Harry Fletcher and Ollie Binns.

Qualifiers: Ryan Ingram 15, Jordy Loftus 14, Harry Fletcher 13, Ollie Binns 12, Senna Summers 11, Max Perry 10, Charlie Southwick 9, Harry Sadler 7 after a run-off with Seth Norman 7.

Seeded riders: Ace Pijper, Jody Scott, Luke Harrison, Will Cairns, Luke Killeen, Vinnie Foord, Freddy Hodder, Cooper Rushen. Final at Redcar on 7th June.
