Edinburgh Monarchs team building for 2027 continues at pace as we are delighted to welcome back Jonatan Grahn and Jordy Loftus for another year with the club.
Jonatan was the first of the pair announced at the Monarch of the Season Awards Dinner with the recently turned 26-year-old delighted to be back for what will be his third year with the club, Grahn saying, "It is really good to know I will be back for next year.
"It was a priority for me to be back with Edinburgh and it suits me well. This year I felt like I was really getting to grips with Armadale and I want to build on that and be part of this club again.
"I felt like I am on good ground now, my first year I had half the season at reserve but last season I was in the main body of the team for the entire year. I would say I was quite consistent this year, next year the aim is to get better again and be a top rider and build on this year and improve my average even higher."
Next to be announced was Loftus, the 17-year-old another entering his third year with the club albeit just his second full season and with an average of 3.67 upward motion is front of mind for the young Aussie also as he stated, "I am delighted, we had a rough start to the season this year but we finished well.
"I feel like I improved a lot and with the help of my teammates I had a good year and I want that to continue.
"My family are all settled with the club and that is a massive help as well. Having my mum, dad and sister with me is a huge help, you look at other young guys that have come over from Australia and they have to do it all themselves but I have that help from mum and dad and that is massive for me.
"The aim for next season is to get my average higher and aim for the 1-5 and also being my age I will be in the rising star positions in the Premiership so I am looking to see if I can get a spot in the top league as well and that will only help as riding three or four times a week and getting more bike time can only help as well."
So, three down, four to go as Jonatan and Jordy join the already announced Kye Thomson as the Monarchs look to put together a side that will go for glory when the tapes fly in 2027.
2027 Edinburgh Monarchs: Kye Thomson 8.23, Jonatan Grahn 5.63, Jordy Loftus 3.67
