There was some great racing in this match, and a Monarchs' performance which took a while to come together.

It's perhaps rubbing salt into the wound to find that we are due to face Newport again following the hammering we suffered on Tuesday night in the Knock-Out Cup. This time we have even less chance of an aggregate win after losing in Wales by 31 points.

The team who have just dumped the Scotwaste Monarchs out of the Cup, Newport Wasps, return for a Premier League fixture at Armadale on Friday.

Friday night will be a unique opportunity for fans to win some cash during the Scotwaste Monarchs' league match against Newport.

It looked good - for three quarters of a lap.

The cup tie at Newport was probably the most important match of our season so far, and we were looking for a big effort.

While some teams have raced their quarter-final matches in the Knock-Out Cup competition we will just be completing our first round tie with this fixture. We won the first leg 56-40 so need to do better than lose by more than 15 points. That would seem to be a tall order when you consider the 62-31 hammering we suffered in our Premier League match there last April.
