We had a very disappointing day at Scunthorpe in our first Premier Playoff match, losing 59-34 and suffering injury once again to Craig Cook in his second ride.

The Scotwaste Monarchs’ first Premier Playoff match against Scunthorpe was rained off tonight and will be restaged next Friday.

The first of Edinburgh's Premier League Play Off matches takes place on Friday (7.30) when the highly ambitious Scunthorpe Scorpions return to the scene of their recent triumph at the Scotwaste Arena when they romped past a depleted Monarchs side in the worst racing conditions of the season.

CRAIG Cook believes Edinburgh Monarchs have landed in the toughest of the two Premier League play-off groups but he predicted: “We can win this.”

The Scotwaste Monarchs have been boosted in their Playoff bid for the Premier League title by the confirmed return of their Hungarian rider Jozsef Tabaka.

The Scotwaste Monarchs are one of six teams in the Premier Playoffs, and each of these sides is only three matches away from winning the Premier League Championship for 2012.

Today's Premier League Riders Championship at Sheffield was rained off after four races (plus an hour waiting for the rain to go off, which it didn't) but at least we found out that we will face Scunthorpe and Workington in the Premier Playoffs to decide the league title.
